The WeekEnder & Other Changes On RCN

This newsletter, "The WeekEnder" has always been a special part of The Ragdoll Connection Network. Originally, its circulation was weekly. Now, it has been changed to "periodically." The main reason for this change was to keep you, our subscribers, happy. Expecting to get it every week and then not receiving it generated many complaints - and rightfully so. Every effort will be made to publish it at least once every month.

We have also changed the technical aspect of distributing our newsletter. This took place in the begining of June. So, our subscriber list started from scratch - but old, inaccurate email addresses were purged. This saves us money in getting this important newsletter out to you.
Not that you'd ever want to, but unsubscribing from our newsletter is now easier than ever. Simply click on the appropriate link at the bottom part of this email itself.
Another reason for the change in the email distribution engine was to put us in compliance with current spam regulations.

This week our consulting veterinarian, Dena M. Gallupo, DVM comments what every feline first aid kit should include.
Some of the most common cat injuries - minor cuts and abrasions - occur when the cat is going about its daily routine. For this reason, a first aid kit should be a part of your household.
A good first aid kit should include alcohol and/or antiseptic lotion: for cleaning cuts and wounds. Bandages and cotton buds for cleaning and applying ointments. Eye wash - regular saline solution to flush out any eye irritants. Scissors - for cutting away fur that may be in the way of a wound. A towel - no matter how tame you believe your cat to be, when she is in pain, she may bite or scratch anyone who comes close. A towel is used to wrap around the cat, in order to retrain it for her safety and for the safety of others.
A warm towel also helps to reassure and calm the anxiety that any injured cat may be experiencing.
Don't undermine the importance of keeping a feline first aid kit in your home. Having it can possibly save the life of your cat one day. Some injuries require immediate care. And the first aid kit will enable you to begin that care - with the guidance of your veterinarian - prior to actually reaching the office/clinic.
