Registration Forms

RCN's various registration forms collect data that is required to join the RCN Club, receive our weekly, E-Mail newsletter, "The WeekEnder", and to enable users to participate within our interactive segments. Usernames and passwords may be required. In all instances, user passwords are not accessible by RCN or any of its advertisers or administrator.

Contact information from the registration forms is used to ship purchases or provide the requested information to each user. RCN does not engage in the practice of selling any user data or information to outside sources for any reason or price.

Users may opt-out of receiving any mailings from RCN by contacting the webmaster.

Unique identifiers (such as key words) are collected from online breeders to verify their identity and modify their online space.

Order Forms

Our site uses an order form for customers to request information, products, and services. We collect contact information for delivery purposes.

Financial-related information is required only when making payments using a credit card, charge card, or electronic check. RCN only accepts all major credit cards. Credit card transactions are processed through secure servers for your protection and privacy. Credit card transactions are processed through PayPal Financial and 2CheckOut Financial (both trusted giants on the Internet for safe payment processing and customer advocates).

NORM - Anti Hacker Engine

RCN employs the use of a network security engine known as NORM. NORM tracks visitors' IP addresses and overall browsing habits. This information is used strictly if/when a security breech occurs to effectively prosecute the offender or offenders. RCN does not share any of the information gathered by NORM with any third parties.

Pop-Up Ads, Spyware, Spam, & Frames

RCN is 100% free of any pop-up advertisements. None of our pages and/or downloads contain Spyware material. RCN is against spam emails. With the exception of our interactive WebBoard System, RCN's website design is structured without the use of "frames" in our html scripts.

Guestbook

Our online Guestbook ask visitors for contact information (like email address).

Contact information from the Guestbook is used for statistical and geographical purposes, as well as to provide a type of accountability for the remarks entered.

The RCN Store

RCN's Online Store is administered through CafePress - a leader in the printing and merchandising industry - San Leandro, California. No information gathered through The RCN Store will be shared or sold. Information gathered will be used for the sole purpose of filling orders. CafePress is in the business of selling merchandise - not information. CafePress is well aware of our Policy Statement regarding privacy and is dedicated to honoring it.

WebBoard Conferencing/Chatting

This site includes an interactive conferencing and chatting system. The system is monitored and moderated manually and electronically to prevent abuse, misuse, and inappropriate activities. Every user is required to create a complete profile and is accountable for the posts made in connection to that profile.

RCN does not engage in the practice of trading, selling, or sharing information included in WebBoard's user profiles.

This web page has one of the safest, most protected conferencing systems on the Internet. Still, it is classified as a "public" forum and user discretion is advised.

Children's Guidelines

We care about children and understand that they have special privacy needs. Therefore, we have adopted the following privacy policy regarding children:

  1. We will NOT collect, use, or distribute to third parties personally identifiable information without prior verifiable parental consent.
  2. We will NOT give the child access to unmonitored chat rooms, message boards, email accounts, or other services that would give the child the ability to publicly post or otherwise distribute personally identifiable information without prior verifiable parental consent.
  3. When verifiable parental consent is not obtained, we will only use the online contact information (such as email) to:
    1. Respond directly to the child's request on a one-time basis and not use that information to re-contact the child for other purposes.
    2. Request the name or online contact information of a parent for the purpose of obtaining verifiable parental consent or providing parental notification.
    3. Respond more than once directly to a specific request from a child (such as in the case where a child requests a newsletter subscription) and not used to re-contact the child for other purposes. We will use our best efforts to provide parental notification, which will include the nature and intended use as well as an opportunity for the parent to prevent the use of the information and participation in the activity.

Server/Technical Data

RCN is running Apache over Linux - Apache responds to web page fetch requests from remote browsers while Linux is one of several variants of the Unix operating system.

We employ the use of one OC3, and three DS3 connections & are fully redundant multi-homed. Fully redundant backup through two backbone services, high speed 100 MB switches, and Cisco 7600 Series Routers.

RCN's main system operation is backed up hourly, daily.
